Karinderya: A Philippine Cookbook

28-page Book Publication 8in x 10in, 2021

Karinderya is a cookbook publication designed by Andre Canta with recipes, images, and drawings crowdsourced from the Philippine Community. Taken almost entirely verbatim, these recipes represent each individual’s voice and mimic the way that recipes are often told and passed down. Canta also collaged photos to create an illustration of a few of the dishes. As these dishes move through the diaspora and are passed down or brought to new places, they take on new forms and new recipes, further adding to the Philippine culture and history.

Displayed at the University of San Francisco’s Thacher Gallery.
